Scores Fathers on Failure in Home

By the Associated Press

Boston, March 4—Growing weakness on the part of the men of this country is developing a sinister cynicism Cardinal O’Connell told a gathering at the cathedral of the Holy Cross last night. Man is the head of the house and should assert himself in the home. Failing to do this, the cardinal said, the man was shirking his duty.

“The women are becoming masculine, if you please, and the women are becoming effeminate.” (That’s what the story said but I think it was supposed to read ‘men are becoming effeminate.’)

“Man as the head of the house,” he said, “should assert his proper authority in the home.”
