Girl Scouts on Hike Discover and Put Out Forest Fire, Feb. 4, 1922

Girl Scouts Put Out Forest Fire on Hike. . . Troop One Prevents Damage to Forests Yesterday

Fighting forest fires seems to be all in the day’s work for the Girl Scouts. Troop one of which, under the chaperonage of Mrs. Walter Noe, while on a hike past national cemetery near the Pines, yesterday afternoon extinguished a fire which threatened a considerable expanse of woods.

When the girls discovered the fire, it was not large but spread quickly until the utmost effort was necessary in putting it out. The scout motto “Be prepared” was well lived up to in the emergency by the troop.
