Fayetteville, Feb. 15—Edward J. Hale, soldier, journalist, diplomat and statesman, died at 11:55 o’clock this morning at his home in this city where he had spent the last three years following his retirement as minister to Costa Rica on the refusal of the Wilson government to recognize the defacto government of the country.
