Did your family member work for Stokes County in 1921? Here are disbursements to individuals and businesses by the Board of Commissioners, as printed on page 2 of The Danbury Reporter, Feb. 8, 1922. For example, R.W. Joyce, deputy sheriff, was paid $12 for “conveying prisoner to and from Danbury.” Pepper Brothers were paid $174.25 for printing for the county, and Stoneville Grocery Company received $10, which was the balance due on some cement.
