A Dodge automobile, several jugs of liquor and three negroes—Jimmy Ed Dudley, John Griffin and Jeremiah Godett—were taken into custody by officers a short distance from James City this morning. The prisoners were taken to the jail and will be given a preliminary hearing on Monday.
The officers found the negroes and the car by the side of the road. Something had gone wrong with the machine, and the men were trying to repair it. The officers searched the car and, finding no liquor inside, began to search the neighborhood. A short distance away they found the whiskey.
The negroes denied that the liquor belong to them.
