Raleigh, Sept. 18—Judge Lyon in Wake county superior court here today set aside the verdict and ordered a new trial in the case of J.H. Hightower and H.H. Massey, president and cashier respectively of the defunct Central Bank and Trust Co., of this city, found guilty by a jury Saturday night of receiving deposits knowing the bank was insolvent. The judge’s decision was received with scattered applause in the courtroom.
