Mrs. Laura Dickens Kirkman, mother of Mrs. R.F. Johnson of this city died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N.K. Holloman in Greensboro.
Mrs. Kirkman was 60 years of age. She had been in ill health for the past two weeks, but a week ago she had a stroke of paralysis, and she gradually grew worse until the end came early today. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Asheboro Street Baptist church, Greensboro, and an exemplary Christian woman.
Mrs. Kirkman was raised in Lexington and lived there during her girlhood days. Her mother, Mrs. Amanda Dickens, still lives there.
She is also survived by four daughters, Mrs. Hollomon of Greensboro, Mrs. Johnson of High Point, Mrs. J.L. Slade of Mideville, Ga., and Mrs. W.F. Evans of Waynesville, Ga.; by four sons, R.L. Kirkman of Norfolk, Va., A.B. Kirkman of Macon, Ga., C.T. and R.P. Kirkman of Danville, Va.; and by two brothers, J.W. and T.E. Dickens of Lexington, and one sister, Mrs. Joe Mitchell of Lexington.
The funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow at the Hanes funeral home, Greensboro. The burial will take place at Betheney cemetery, Davidson county.
