Train Strikes Car, Kills Jack Whitehead and Eugene Pittman, Aug. 14, 1923

Liquor in the Car. . . Two Men Killed by Train at Whitakers

Whitakers, Aug. 11—Train No. 33 of Atlantic Coast Line hit an automobile at 6:25 p.m. and killed Jack Whitehead and Eugene Pittman instantly. Three gallon jugs of liquor were found in the car. About two months ago Whitehead was in an automobile wreck at Battlesboro near here in which his brother was killed and another injured. Liquor was found in the car then but he was cleared of blame for the accident.
