Brock, Parkerson's Experiments with Spinach Crop Starts to Pay Off, Dec. 7, 1923

First Spinach Brings $2.50 a Barrel North. . . W.A. Brock and L.S. Parkerson Put 140 Acres in Spinach This Fall

Shipments of spinach from Elizabeth City the past week amounted to about 1,200 barrels, all of which was cut from the lands of W.A. Brock. The first shipment of this spinach sold at $2.50 a barrel on the New York market.

This is the second year that spinach has been tried in Pasquotank, W.A. Brock and L.S. Parkerson making the first experiment last season. Other farmers have hesitated to follow, preferring to wait upon the experiments of Messrs. Brock and Parkerson.

Brock and Parkerson put 140 acres in spinach this fall. |The yield is around 300 barrels an acre. They will follow spinach with other fancy truck crops.
