Jordan Warren Sells Goods in Norfolk, Then Robbed There, Dec. 7, 1923

Jordan Warren Fleeced on a Trip to Norfolk

Jordan Warren, Elizabeth City’s enterprising negro gardener, has returned from a trip to Norfolk and brings back a woeful tale. Warren went down to Norfolk last week to sell some produce. He says he came out of the store where he had been paid some money, and was met around the corner by a couple of negro men who held him up and relieved him of about $100 in cash. Warren believes the men saw him receive the money. Norfolk police have captured the men, according to Warren, who is to appear against them the last of this week, but he hasn’t got his money back.
