Yesterday appears to have been a day of tornadoes in both North and South Carolina, and in South Carolina a trail of death and destruction was left in the wake of the winds of destruction.
At Horrell Hill, 20 miles from Columbia, S.C., 16 persons were killed and property damage was great when two cyclones met there. At this place 75 children were trapped under the fallen walls of a school house and three of them were killed.
Florence, S.C., comes reports of the killing of 15 persons, the injury of 50 more and great property damage. Anderson, S.C., reports the death of eight persons and property loss extending over $1 million. Several were killed around Timmonsville, S.C., death list of 61 is made up from various sections of the state.
North Carolina reports three deaths near Durham and many injured. Rocky Mount gives property loss at over $1 million, and many injured.
