Raleigh, May 19—Police of this city are searching for Allen Penny, negro, who it is alleged had buried in his back yard in a wooden box 35 half gallon jars of whiskey. The backyard, it was reported, gave no evidence of the hidden contraband, and it was only through a “tip” that the police knew about the hidden liquor.
Penny’s wife expressed surprise that there was anything hidden in the back yard and said that she knew nothing about the “stuff.”
The whiskey was carried to headquarters while the police continued the search for the supposed hider of the whiskey.
