Funeral Services for Both Pastors Killed, Sept. 7, 1924

Services Over Wreck Victims. . . Funeral for Preachers in High Point

High Point, Sept. 6—The bodies of Rev. C.E. Crissman and Rev. C. Russell Sorrell, Baptist ministers of High Point, who were killed in a grade crossing accident near Liberty yesterday, were brought here early today.

The funeral services will e conducted at the Green Street Baptist church in tis city, tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock. Rev. J.E. Lanier of Fairmont, a former citizen here, and Rev. J.M. Hillard will conduct the services. Mr. Crissman will be buried in a local cemetery, and the body of Mr. Sorrell will be taken next week to Marbel Hill, Missouri, for interment.

Rev. Mr. Sorrell had been pastor of the Green Street Baptist church here since last November. He came to High Point from Parkton, where held a pastorate. He is survived by the widow and three children.

Rev. Mr. Crissman made his home in this city, but was pastor of the Macedonia Baptist church, three miles from Liberty. He and Mr. Sorrell were en route to the church to begin revival services when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by a passenger train. Mr. Crissman was killed instantly, and Mr. Sorrell died in a Sanford hospital last night.
