Misses Nettie Dailey and Dessye Gross of Burlington spent last week end with Miss Martha Lee North.
On Monday evening, March 8, from 8 to 10 o’clock, Miss Celeste Edgerton entertained her Sunday school class of boys and girls. The guests were shown to the cloak room and afterwards registered in Miss Edgerton’s memory book. Several interesting games and contests were enjoyed. Among them was a contest which consisted in making an animal with five peanuts, four toothpicks, and one Irish potato. The winner, Etta Lee Caspar, was presented with a prize for making the most original animal. Following this was an instrumental solo by Irene Edgerton. Partners were placed by each girl secretly taking a boy’s finger for a contest of great men and women in American history. The refreshments consisted of a delicious salad course and an iced course. Those present were: Eulalia Darden, L.C. Wilkinson Jr., Beatrice Hooks, Griffin Edgerton, Glenda Hodge, Claudius Bowen, Myrtle Howell, Rudolph Jones, Irene Edgerton, Charles Alford, Daisy Narron, William Godwin, Clara Lee Pittman, Jimmy Boykin, Pauline Eagles, and Etta Lee Caspar.
