T.L. Talbert Jr. in Hospital After Injury at "Stag" Party, March 19, 1926

Groom-Elect Badly Hurt at “Stag” Party. . . T.L. Talbert Jr. Is Accidentally Struck by Flying Glass and Vein in Neck Severed

Charlotte, March 19—T.L. Talbert Jr., well known young man of this city, was in a serious condition at a local hospital today as a result of injuries said to have been sustained in an accident during a “stag” party at the Hotel Charlotte last night in celebration of his approaching marriage.

According to stories told by other members of the party, Talbert was injured when a glass slipped from the hand of one of the guests, who was throwing water at him, struck him in the neck and severed the external jugular vein. It was reported that members of the party were having a “little fun” throwing water on each other when the accident happened.

Police this morning were not investigating the occurrence after being advised by the hotel detective that it was an accident.

Mr. Talbert lives on Euclid Avenue and is said to be well known here. The names of the other members of the party could not be ascertained.
