County Correspondence: Selma

Selma, March 18—Mrs. R.B. Carrington has returned to her home in Richmond, Va., after a few days’ visit in Selma with friends.

We regret to report the illness of Mrs. J.H. Jackson at her home on Railroad Street.

Mrs. S.R. Lee has returned from a visit to friends in Goldsboro.

Misses Maude Westbrook and Lelia Straughn, of the Princeton graded school faculty, spent last week end with Captain and Mrs. J.H. Straughn.

Among those from Selma who have attended the Woman’s Missionary Council at Edenton Street Methodist Church, Raleigh, were: Dr. and Mrs. O.P. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Geo. F. Brietz, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Woodard, Miss Margaret Etheridge, Mrs. J.R. Straughn, Mrs. W.H. Call and Mrs. A.K. Eason.

Misses Frances Moore and Mildred Perkins spent last week end in Goldsboro.

Mr. Harry Candler has returned from Fort McPherson, where he stood a splendid physical examination preparatory to entering West Point.

Mrs. W.H. Etheridge is visiting Mrs. S.E. Leonard in Rocky Mount this week.

Dr. and Mrs. J.F. Parker spent last week end with relatives in Clinton.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Bradley Pearce have moved into their attractive new bungalow on Anderson Street.

Walton Debnam is confined to his room with an attack of rheumatism.

Mrs. Lena Barbour of Clayton visited Mrs. L.D. Debnam last week.

Miss Frances Ledbetter spent last week end with friends at Duke University, Durham.

Rev. and Mrs. D.H. Dulin and little son, of Wilson, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Reynolds.

Dr. J.A. Griffin of Clayton was in the city Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Debnam spent Thursday of last week in Raleigh.

Mr. and Mrs. E.O. Wood were called to Columbia, S.C., last Friday on account of the sudden death of Mr. Wood’s mother. Their many friends here extend sympathy.

Miss Una Straughan, a former teacher in the Selma schools, has returned to her home in Durham after a visit here to Mrs. W.H. Poole.

Mrs. B.A. Henry and Mrs. W.G. Waddell shopped in Raleigh last Wednesday.

Mr. Glenwood Brown, a student at State College, spent Tuesday with his parents here.

Mr. A.C. Scarboro of Wendell spent Monday in the city with his sister, Mrs. B.A. Henry.

Mr. and Mrs. V.E. Jacobs announce the arrival of twin boys on Wednesday, March 17.

Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Richardson spent last week end in Roanoke, Va.

Miss Eva Richardon visited relatives in Goldsboro last week.

Mrs. Emmett Guy and children have returned to their home in Detroit, Michigan, after a visit to Mrs. J.W. Short.

Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Irvin, from Florida, have taken apartments with Mrs. E.V. Deans. We welcome these young people in our midst.

Mrs. W.R. Smith spent Sunday in Clayton with her mother, Mrs. Gulley, who is quite ill.

Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Smith from Kinston have moved to Selma and are occupying rooms at the home of Mrs. E.V. Deans. A cordial welcome is extended them.

Mrs. Norman Screws spent Tuesday in Raleigh.
