Greensville Exposition Off to Good Start, April 6, 1926

Exposition at Greensville Is Open to Public. . . Eastern Carolina’s Section Show in Pitt Capital Gets Well Under Way

The eyes of the people of the eastern section of North Carolina are this week turned toward Greenville, Pitt County, where the Eastern Carolina Exposition is being held this week, and indications are that the event will prove to be the most largely attended and most successful yet held.

The exposition got under way yesterday, the program being carried out in detail as planned. One of the principal attractions of the opening day was the appearance of Will Rogers, cowboy comedian, who was heard in Goldsboro Saturday night. Rogers, as always, drew a large crowd, and as usual made a decided hit.

Today a large number of Goldsboro and Wayne county people are expected to go over to the Pitt city to attend the exposition, and a large number of visitors from this county are expected each day during the remainder of the week.

The following is the program for today:

2 p.m.—Parade by American Legion, with program at exposition, under direction of Commander Henry Stevens.

2:30 p.m.—Concert by Paul Specht’s Orchestra. Addresses by Tasker Polk of Warrenton; General Bowley of Fort Bragg, and Gen. Albert Cox of Raleigh.

8:15 p.m.—Concert by Paul Specht’s Orchestra. Special program by Anna Case, metropolitan grand opera star, and popular American soprano.
