No greater funeral honors were ever accorded a resident of Edenton than on Monday when J.H. McMullan, physician, gentleman, and friend of man, was laid to rest, after 74 years of usefulness to his town and section.
Dr. McMullan died Sunday in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Norfolk, following an operation for appendicitis. His wife died about eight years ago. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: J.H. McMullan Jr. of Edenton; Harry McMullan of Washington, N.C.; Miss Jessie McMullan and Mrs. Oscar Elliott of Edenton. He was a brother of the late Dr. O. McMullan of this city and an uncle of Dr. T.S. McMullan and Attorney P.W. McMullan.
