Although his own company suffered a loss of tens of thousands of dollars in the Roper Lumber Company fire yesterday, A.R. Turnbull, president of the Rowland Lumber Company, this morning sent in his check for $1,000 for relief work in New Bern.
A check for $100 was also received from A.D. Watts, collector of internal revenue, at Raleigh.
