Foust, Graves, Nicholson, Thompson, Watson Deaths from Alamance Gleaner, Sept. 20, 1923

DEATHS

Mr. George Amick Foust, whose home was in Newlin township in the Bethel community, died on Thursday morning, Sept. 13th, at the Rainey Hospital where he was under treatment. He was in his 47th year and one of the best known farmers in his section. He was a good citizen and highly esteemed by all who knew him. The burial took place on Friday at Bethel and was conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Holmes. He is survived by his widow and several children who have the sympathy of a host of friends in their sad bereavement.

Mrs. Graves, the wife of John Graves, died last Saturday in Coble township, aged about 53 years. Her maiden name was Isley. Besides her husband, she is survived by several children. The burial was at Mt. Hermon Monday.

Finamore Nicholson, son of Mr. F.P. Nicholson, aged about 21 years, died Tuesday morning at the home of his parents in Albright township. The funeral took place yesterday morning at Mt. Hermon at 11 o’clock. Following an attack of influenza last fall, he contracted measles, and since that he had been in a gradual decline. He was an excellent young man and highly esteemed by all who knew him. Deceased was a nephew of Mr. A.B. Nicholson of Graham.

Mr. Gary S. Thompson Dies in Greensboro

The many friends of Mr. Gary s. Thompson in Alamance will regret to learn of his death, which occurred in Greensboro early Saturday morning last after an illness of about 10 days. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thompson and was born near Mebane Sept. 14, 1871. He was educated at the Bingham School and later for a number of years was manager of the store at Bellemont Cotton Mills. For several years he made his home in Graham. He located in Greensboro some 15 years ago and was a highly esteemed business man of that city. In 1903 he married Miss Lillie Culp of Fort Mill, S.C., who died three years ago. He is survived by four children, three girls and a boy, one sister, Mrs. E.C. Turner of Hawfields, and one brother, A.C. Thompson of Mebane. The remains were carried to Fort Mill for burial.

Mr. James E. Watson Dead

This afternoon, just as we are ready to go to press, it is learned that Mr. Watson passed. He had been in declining health for several years, and for the past few weeks had been extremely ill. The funeral will be conducted from the Presbyterian church tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 4 o’clock.
