This week’s being observed as a week of prayer and the ladies of the First Baptist Church are meeting this afternoon with Mrs. D.A. Hedrick.
The Anna Johns Chapter of the Confederacy meets tomorrow afternoon with Misses Laura and Evelyn Darlington on Patrick Street. The members and ladies of the Chalmers Glenn Chapter are requested to bring or send silk or velvet pieces to be forwarded to the Ladies Home in Fayetteville, so the box may reach them for Thanksgiving.
Mr. W.V. Poole and Mr. Maurice Heiner are spending the day in Roanoke, Va.
Miss Ann Taylor entertained the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club today.
Mr. and Mrs. K.W. Franke are leaving tomorrow to make their home in Roxboro.
Miss Kate Burton and and Mrs. Rengar of High Point were Leaksville visitors yesterday.
Judge H.P. Lane and children were in town Tuesday.
The Woman’s Missionary Society of the Leaksville Baptist church held its November meeting Monday after the second Sunday with Mrs. B.F. Barker and Mrs. McGinnis as joint hostesses at the home of Mrs. Barker.
Mrs. J. Platt Turner, the leader, had as her topic “Medical Missions and Evangelism.” After Scripture reading by the circle and prayer, Mrs. Turner read a selection; Reading object of Medical Missions, Mrs. Jones. Duet by Mrs. D. Frank King Jr. and Mrs. Barker. Reading, The Lepers, Mrs. Hopper; Poem, Mrs. Holmes. A story by Mrs. Beeker; Song, then the president Mrs. Hopper took charge of the business meeting. Report from mission study class and awarding of certificates. The dues amounted to $4.25 and there was a special offering of $20. The hostesses served a bountiful plate and the Society adjourned to meet with Mrs. B.F. Ivie.
