Gastonia, N.C., Dec. 15—Mrs. C.W. Spencer, wife of a Gastonia contractor, died this afternoon from the effects of burns received yesterday when her clothing caught fire while attempting to extinguish flames which enveloped her husband, whose clothing had caught fire from an open grate. Physicians stated tonight that the condition of Mr. Spencer, who was seriously burned, was serious.
