“Twas whispered one morning in Heaven that the soul of a dear father would leave its earthly home and join God’s holy band of angels, and his name was Mr. W.E. Poag. At noon, when all was peaceful and quiet, the angels came and bore him away. I think I can hear the glad, joyful shouts of welcome as his precious form entered the shining portals and was folded to our Savior’s breast. weep not dear wife, you have other bright beautiful angels living with God and the loved ones gone before, and wearing a crown of eternal life.
Mr. Poag was a universal favorite and possessed rare virtues, which were displayed so fully through his long useful life. Oh! his was a beautiful spirit, his was a crystal soul; his was a heart of gold.
Dear daughters and son, your little flower has wilted on its stalk, but blooms today in the Paradise of God where flowers never, never fade. The chain of the family circle is broken and dear Father Poag is the link severed. May each of you so live that at the great blessed resurrection morn there will not be one link missing. This will be the prayer of one who loved him.
Your sincere friend, Mr. R.E.H.
