Durham, May 19—The health department of this city has entered upon a crusade for the betterment of the health conditions of the city and is insisting upon sanitary precautions being taken in every instance. Since the campaign was started to free all houses to make a good working connection with the city water and sewerage, 30 warrants have been issued against persons failing to comply with the order. Fifteen were held up upon the promise of the occupant of the houses to immediately have to connections made. The other 15 were partly tried in court here and will be in the next few days. Most of these cases already tried were carried over to a later session.
