J.A. Mackey Buys P.D. Drum Farm, Sept. 8, 1924

Newton, Sept. 4—The dower of Mrs. P.D. Drum near Ball’s Creek sold at auction last Saturday. J.A. Mackey bought this 45-acre farm for about $5,100, or $113 per acre. Mrs. Drum left 13 children, all married. So 26 persons have to sign the deed. P.D. Drum, father of this family, died several years ago. He was on the board of county commissioners 1910-12.
