Jim, Our Janitor, Is a Faithful Worker, Jan. 12, 1925

An Interview With Jim

That our janitor “Jim” has been in the service of the High Point High School for five years was disclosed in an interview the other day. During these five years Jim has been a faithful worker.

Upon questioning him about the improvements during these years, he said, “Well, the halls and rooms are cleaner than they were when I first came here; but they are dirty enough. Ask them if they know what these cans re for.” Jim stated that the students threw the paper and trash everywhere except in the cans.

“I am going to put another can in the hall. Why, down at Cloverdale they are so careful that the janitor don’t have to sweep but once a day. I have to swept twice a day,” he stated.

Upon asking him which class he liked the best, he said that every class seemed to get better and better. It is the custom of every senior class to donate a sum to the janitor upon graduation. He said that the sum increased every year. He wants the present class to do better than the last senior class.

A few weeks ago the high school had a come-clean week, but it seems that the school did not come-clean in cleanliness. By all means the students should be more careful with the trash.

“Jim” wants a Pointer when this is printed. Hi! There, circulation manager, wake up!
