Mrs. Amanda Page Smart, widow of the late James C. Smart, died suddenly this morning at 3 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.B. Caddell on West Depot Street. Apparently she was as well as usual when she retired last night but her condition became suddenly critical and grew worse until the end came about 3 o’clock.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Caddell tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock and interment will be made in the Presbyterian at Locust. The services will be conducted by Rev. W.C. Wauchope of Whiteville, former pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church of this city.
Mrs. Smart was 80 years of age, having been born April 28, 1845. She was a daughter of the late Sion and Nancy Page of Stanly county, where she was born and reared. She was married December 25th, 1867.
The deceased is survived by three children: Mrs. Caddell, and C.R. Smart of Concord, and T.C. Smart of Albemarle.
Mrs. Smart was widely known in Concord and announcement of her sudden death came as a distinct surprise and shock to her many friends.
