Charlotte Doesn't Need to Curtail Mills to "Stabilize Yarn Market," March 13, 1926

Charlotte Mills Not to Curtail Work. . . Only Few Yarn Mills There So There Is No Occasion for Curtailed Program

Charlotte, March 13 (AP)—Spinning mill officials here said today that no action had been taken locally in regard to curtailment of production which is reported from Gaston county and others to “stabilize the yarn market.”

Reports here are to the effect that a number of yard mills at Gastonia plan to suspend operations from noon today to the beginning of the shift on Tuesday morning.

Textile men have declared that the Gastonia mills are acting entirely independently and that curtailment is being made to avoid the danger of shutdowns later.

Announcement also comes from Rutherfordton that the Spindale, Grace and Cleghorn mills are not operating Fridays and Saturdays of each week.

It was pointed out that Mecklenburg County mills were largely engaged in the production of finished products, rather than yarn, and therefore are not vitally affected.
