Jesse H. Wyatt, former captain of detectives on the Raleigh police force, who was sentenced to not less than eight nor more than 18 months in the State’s prison, for killing Stephen S. Holt, of this city, began to serve his sentence yesterday.
Wyatt was convicted by a Durham county jury in a bitterly contested trial last November, but on account of the expected birth of a child in Wyatt’s home, the effective date of sentence was deferred until March 15.
