Mary Sherrod Kearney, 27, Died Following Operation, March 12, 1926

Mrs. Hal Kearney Died

Mrs. Hal Kearney, formerly Miss Mary Sherrod, died at Mary Elizabeth Hospital, Raleigh, about 9 o’clock Monday night after an operation. She was 27 years old and was a most estimable young woman, loved and admired by her many friends for her generous and pleasing personality. She was a consistent member of Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church and took much interest in advancing the work of Christ.

The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church at Raleigh on Tuesday and was conducted by Rev’s. M. Stamps and S.L. Blanton and her remains were taken to Asheville where they were interred on Wednesday by the side of her husband who preceded her in 1924, being a patient at Oteen Hospital. The remains were accompanied from Raleigh by her father, Mr. A.S. Sherrod, and brother-in-law, Dr. M. Baynes.

The deceased leaves besides her parents two sisters, Mrs. Dr. M Baynes of Raleigh and Miss Edith Sherrod of this county and a large number of relatives and friends. The pall bearers were T.K. Allen, C.J. Oakly, Dr. C.H. banks, F.G. Banks, F.W. Justice and Cory Cox.

The bereaved parents and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.

Among those from Franklin County attending the funeral in Raleigh were Mrs. J.P. Timberlake, C.N. Sherrod, Mr. and Mrs. Phi [Phil?] Tomlinson, C.K. Cooke, Mrs. Emma Mitchiner, Mr. A. Mitchiner, Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Banks, Mr. R.G. Wilder, Mrs. W.G. Wilder, Dr. C.H. Banks, Mr. C.J. Oakley, Sheriff F.W. Justice, Messrs. T.K. Allen, F.G. Banks and Coy Cox.
