George Walton Whitehurst, 77, died Wednesday morning at the residence on West Church Street following an illness of three years. He was the youngest of a family 10 children, and only one other of whom are living, Robert White hurst of Smyrna, N.C., who is 90 years old.
Funeral services took place at the home at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon, the services being conducted by the pastor of the deceased, Rev. F. S. Love, pastor of the First Methodist Church, assisted by Dr. Samuel Templeman, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Interment was in Hollywood.
Mr. Whitehurst is survived by four children, J.N., J.V., and Miss Mattie Whitehurst of this city, and J. Slaughter Whitehurst of Lake Wales, Florida.
