Tears came to the eyes of Elizabeth City’s postmaster and he could speak with difficulty when the members of the First Methodist Sunday School of Elizabeth City presented him with a magnificent silver loving cup the other Sunday upon the occasion of his retirement from the superintendency of the Sunday School. Mr. Hooper had served as Superintendent of the school for four years and won for himself the love and affection of one of the largest and most active Sunday School groups in Eastern North Carolina.
