Hawk Catching Record
Mr. N.E. Parks lives on the land of Mr. J.R. Hughes and they
had been having considerable loss of chickens on account of the hawks carrying
them off.
Mr. Hughes bought a steel trap for Mr. Parks to try his luck
catching hawks. A tree was trimmed up and the trap placed on top of it so that
if a hawk would light his feet would land most likely in the steel trap.
Within a period of less than 12 months Mr. Parks reports
that he has caught 26 hawks, three owls and one crow.
