Capt. Freeman Gets
Military Award
Capt. Charles C. Freeman, fifth military police company, has
been cited for distinguished conduct in action, an honor that his hundreds of
friends in Hickory will appreciate. It was in the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne
offensive that Capt. Freeman won his distinction.
He formerly was captain in the regular army, but was retired
when the war broke out, reenlisted and was sent to a training camp and was
commissioned lieutenant. He was shortly promoted to captain. In Hickory he was
with the Piedmont Wagon and Manufacturing Company. The following is the
citation:
Captain Charles C. Freeman, 5th military police
