Hickory Having a Whatever You Choose 4th of July, 1919

From the Hickory Daily Record, July 3, 1919

Fourth of July Holiday in Hickory

Fourth of July will be observed in Hickory tomorrow according to individual taste. Some people will go to Statesville, Morganton, Lincolnton or Salisbury to attend rousing celebrations. Others will hike it to the woods and fields, some will go fishing and others will motor to the mountains. Business will be suspended.

All the stores, banks, barber shops and other places of business will be closed and the Record will also shut up shop for the day and its force will—what’ll they do depends, of course. That is also true of everybody else.

There will be many picnic parties and other outdoor amusements, and the “Fighting Roosevelts” will attract hundreds to the picture show.

Saturday will seem like Sunday.
