New Bern, N.C., Feb. 9—Fire of undetermined origin early Friday caused damage estimated at $40,000 to the machine shop of the Rowland Lumber company, completely destroying the roof of the building and wrecking much machinery. Officials of the company announced that new machinery would be ordered at once.
The Rowland Lumber company on the day of New Bern’s disastrous fire last December, sustained a loss of $300,000.
