Elon College, Feb. 10—The death of Miss Allye Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Brown, occurred last night at 7 o’clock after an illness of two weeks. She had been critically ill with pneumonia for several days prior to her death, and though it was expected some time before it came, the village here is cast into a shadow of gloom.
Miss Brown was a member of the student body of the college and resident of the town here. This year she was taking special work in music and art in the college department. She is survived by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
College classes will be suspended this afternoon in reverence to her memory. The funeral exercises will be held tomorrow at 11 o’clock, and interment will take place at the cemetery here.
Miss Brown was a very popular young woman in the village, and connected especially with the social life of the young people. Her many friends are grieved over her death.
