The 1923 North Carolina general assembly passed a bill requiring every person driving a motor vehicle on a public highway on approaching grade crossing to stop, look and listen before passing thereover.
This law as not fostered by the Carolina Motor Club because in the legislative referendum the membership failed to express themselves for it.
Whether we like it or not, it is now a law and must be obeyed. To violate this law subjects one to a fine of $10 or imprisonment of not more than 10 days or both.
This may be a most excellent law, we should at least give it a fair trial. If it will not slow up travel on the highways and will save lives and property, it will be well worth while.
