Aberdeen, Sept. 1—The damage inflicted by the boll weevil around Aberdeen and in this section of Moore County is considerably greater than was anticipated a few weeks ago. South of Aberdeen cotton is deteriorating rapidly, the weevil having taken nearly all of the top crop and inflicting very serious damage to the young boll. In Scotland County and south of Raeford barely a 50 per cent crop is expected. To the north of Aberdeen the crop will probably be about one fourth less than normal.
