Edenton, Sept. 5—Charged with the murder of Samuel Small, white, last Saturday afternoon, David Jones, negro, was arrested here and lodged in jail. Jones was arrested after his alleged companion of last Saturday, George Russell, had been taken into custody this morning. Russell confessed to having been present at the time of the shooting, according to officers, but declared that Jones had fired the fatal shots when Mr. Small failed to heed his command to stop.
