Social Notes in Roxboro Courier, Aug. 12, 1925

Mrs. B.C. Pair of Halifax, N.C., is visiting in Bethel Hill.

Mr. Cariton (maybe Carlton?) King left Sunday for New York.

Miss Evelyn Abbitt is visiting friends in Sanford, N.C.

Miss Elizabeth Williams is spending the week at Buffalo Springs, Va.

Miss Susie Turner of Durham was the guest of Miss Elizabeth Masten last week.

Misses Hilda Mitchell, Bessie Daniel and Elmer Thomas spent Sunday in Pittsboro with friends.

Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Ledbetter are visiting friends and relatives in Statesville this week.

Miss Elizabeth Masten is a member of a house party in Buffalo Springs this week.

Miss Nina Abbitt left the first of the week to visit friends in Lynchburg.

Mrs. J.C. Pearce and Miss Lucile Pearce of Durham are visiting their sister, Mrs. E.G. Long.

Misses Bessie and Lilian Sample of Davidson are visiting their sister, Mrs. B.B. Newell.

Mrs. D.J. Rogers of Timberlake is visiting Mrs. L.T. Bowes this week.

Mr. Charlie Stewart of Richmond, Va., is visiting his brother, Mr. M.E. Stewart.

Mrs. Paschal and Miss Rosa Paschal are guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Burns.

Mrs. W.J. Pettigrew has returned from a pleasant visit to friends and relatives in Burlington.

Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Doares and children are visiting in Lumberton this week.

Misses Elizabeth Morris and Mildred Long are spending the week in Greensboro, guests of Mrs. C.A. Hines.

Misses Annie Boyd Bullock and Sallie B. Bullock of Bullocks, N.C., are guests of their brother, Mr. W.C. Bullock.

Mrs. Jule Warren of Mebane is in Watts Hospital where she had her tonsils removed and will be there for treatment for several weeks.

Little Misses Pauline, Maxine, Hallie Mae and Julia Warren of Mebane are visiting their mother, Mrs. J.W. Jackson.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Witners and children of Atlanta are guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Luther T. Bowes.

Mr. John Gregory and family of Smithfield are visiting Mr. Gregory’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Gregory.

Mrs. J.D. Morris, Miss Elizabeth Morris and Mr. J.D. Morris have returned from a delightful stay at Virginia Beach. They made the trip in Mr. Morris’ car.

Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Younger of Durham were Roxboro visitors last week, visiting in the home of Mr. Younger’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Younger.

Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Nance of Raleigh, N.C., spent the week end with Mrs. Nance’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Rimer at Hurdle Mills, N.C.

Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Sprinkle of Reidsville and Mr. and Mrs. John Ellington of Datonia, [Datona?], Fla., were guests of Judge J.C. Pass and Mrs. R.N. Featherston last Friday.

Mrs. J.W. Noell, Mrs. W.S. Clary Jr., and Miss Elizabeth Noell have returned home from a delightful motor trip through western Carolina and Tennessee.

Mrs. W.C. Bullock and children, who have been spending some time in Warrenton, N.C., visiting Mrs. Bullock’s mother, Mrs. Carl Moore, have returned home.

Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Stanfield left Monday morning for a stay at Norfolk and Virginia Beach, making the trip in Mr. Jackson’s car.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Moore, a girl, Verlinda Long, on August 5th, 1925. Mother and baby are both getting along nicely.

We are glad to welcome Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Gentry, who have just moved to town and are living on Lamarr Street.

Miss Ruby Proctor of Durham and Miss Grace Jacobs of Reidsville spent the past week with Misses Annie and Lena Clayton.

Miss Thelma Clayton returned home Sunday after spending the past week in Norfolk and Washington, D.C.

Rev. J.A. Dailey, who is so pleasantly remembered here as Pastor of Roxboro Circuit, spend the first of the week here with friends. He is now located at Fremont, N.C., and was on his way to Greensboro.

Mr. H. Cantor of Cantor’s Department Store and Mrs. Ida Kaplon, proprietor of the Quality Shop, left yesterday morning for New York where they will be for about two weeks buying merchandise for their stores.

White a number of merchants from Roxboro and this section spent several days last week attending the Merchants’ Meeting in Lynchburg, among whom we note Messrs. Aubry Long, Jerry Dixon, Moe Goodman, Geo. M. Fox and J.E. Latta.

Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Swan and sons of Reidsville, Mr. and Mrs. N.V. Lawrence and Miss Maxine Wilkerson of Durham, and Mr. James Whitener of High Point were guests in the home of Mrs. R.C. Carver Sunday.

Mr. W.F. Long, who is engaged in the warehouse business in Lumberton, N.C., spent the week end at home. He says the Big Banner, which is the name of his warehouse, is leading everything in that section.
