3,000 Durham Hosiery Mills Employees Take 10% Pay Cut, Nov. 19, 1920
Durham--Expressing the belief that changing conditions warrant their action, the congress of the Durham Hosiery Mills has voted to remove a 10 per cent increase in wages granted last May, it has been announced. It was also announced that the industrial democracy congress has voted to close down the mills during Thanksgiving week, planning to resume operation December 1 witht he reduced scale of wages in effect. The decrease in wages, it is stated, will go into effect December 1. It will apply to the employes of all plants of the big company, about 3,000 being affected.
