A negro, known as William Johnson, also William Carr, was shot just after midnight Sunday morning by another negro, not yet caught, on Gilmer street here. Johnson was badly wounded and was carried to a hospital.
His aunt, Mattie Sharp, who saw the shooting, said that a man came to her house twice during Saturday evening looking for Johnson. When Johnson, who lives near his aunt, came to her house later in the night, the man, she said, was waiting outside and called Johnson into the yard, cursed him, shot him and ran.
