Kansas City, Feb. 3—Clarence Persel, 14 years old and wearing his first pair of long pants, remained spankless today. Clarence was not publicly whipped in the Juvenile court today as Judge E.E. Porterfield yesterday announced he would be.
“Young man, have you anything to say?” Judge Porterfield asked as Clarence came into his court this morning.
“Yes, I want to promise that I’ll got to school every day; go to Sunday school; mind my father and mother and report to the detention home each Saturday. So the judge paroled Clarence to his parents, who told the court they “never had the heart to whip him.”
