John Wise lost his life in an automobile accident in Florence, S.C., Thursday, February 1st, and his companion was seriously injured when the car in which they were riding collided with a wagon. Mr. Wise was a soldier in the United States Army at the time of his death, stationed at Camp Bragg, N.C. His body was brought to Murphy late Saturday night by a military escort and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist Church, Rev. M.B. Clegg having charge of the ceremony. The body was buried in the uniform of the United States Army and a large American flag was draped over the casket.
Mr. Wise was the son of Mr. Irvin Wise of Murphy and leaves a number of relatives and friends in this section, who sympathize with his sorrowing family.
