Women Plan to Pull Together. . . District Meeting Here April 10, to Help all the Women Get Closer Together
The program of womankind, and their desire to get closer together, to learn how to do things in the best way possible and for the most good, and to get the most out of life, is indicated in the plans for the 14th District Federation of N.C. Women’s Clubs, which is to be held here next Tuesday, April 10.
Mrs. Mary Fearing, of this city, Chairman of the 14th District, is enthusiastic over the fact that the women of the district have chosen Elizabeth City for the meeting place this time. Mrs. Fearing is enthused over the work of the Women’s Clubs in North Carolina and is confident theirs is one of the greatest agencies at the present time, for bringing all the women in the section in a closer relationship, so that every woman may be better informed, and a better wife and neighbor.
Mrs. Fearing says this year will be a banner year for the Women’s Clubs in this state. Credit for much of this success, she says, is due the state president, Mrs. Sidney P. Cooper of Henderson, who has contributed more in time and money to the cause, than any other president the State Federation of Women’s Clubs has had. Mrs. Cooper will be at the meeting here next week.
Mrs. Palmer Jerman of Raleigh, chairman of the legislative committee, Mrs. John Gilmer of Winston-Salem, Vice-President and Director of Districts will be here. Mrs. Gilmer has attended every district meeting in the 14th District, has been a splendid worker, and the enthusiasm and interest manifested by her, have helped much in the quality of the program arranged.
The musical program next week will be under the direction of Mrs. W.P. Duff. An article on Safety Education by Herbert Moore, Wilmington schoolboy, which won a prize of $10 in gold in a contest held under the Civics Department of the State Federation of Women’s Clubs, will be read by little Miss Pauline Dean. An address will be made by Capt. Clarence Brockwell of the North Carolina Insurance Department.
Many delegates are expected from the Parent-Teacher leagues throughout the section. The Parent-Teacher Leagues are affiliated with the Federation of Women’s Clubs.
