If "Meeton Peeton" Doesn't Behave, He Will Join a Road Gang, April 3, 1923

Must Behave. . . Corpulent Defendant Has 18 Months Hanging Over Him, Ready to Drop

M.P. Peyton, familiarly known as “Meeton Peeton,” has the alternative of being a law-abiding citizen or reducing. He went his way today with an 18-month sentence hanging over him, imposed in Police Court after his conviction on a charge of violating the liquor laws. Peyton is estimated in official quarters to weigh 350 pounds. He is probably the biggest man physically in this section. Last week policemen found whiskey in Peyton’s possession at a point in the business district. Later his home was searched and several gallons were brought to light.

The judgment of the court provides that a capias shall be issued n the event of further violations, and that Peyton shall work on the public roads, where the labor is of a nature to make daily dozens of calisthenics for reductions purposes unnecessary.
