Mrs. Barrett at Wrightsville

Wilmington, July 23—Mrs. Frank H. Barrett, wife of the Augusta cotton factory, whose financial difficulties yesterday created a furor in cotton circles, left for her home in Augusta this morning. She has been at Wrightsville Beach for the past two weeks.

The Failure of Barrett & Co.

The failure of Barrett and Co., of Augusta, the largest cotton factors in the world, is an aftermath of the 1920 depression, which caught so many planters and operators after the good times of 1919. The load was simply too heavy to carry and Mr. Barrett threw up his hands.

Mr. Barrett was a good fellow and a good sport. He together with Ty Cobb owned the Augusta ball team, and was also interested in Hill Mixture, which is used to poison the boll weevil. In that way he was doing a good work for the farmers of the south.

It is said that he bought molasses and arsenic by the carload.
