A delegation from the Fox Mountain School District appeared before the Board some of whom favored transportation of the Fox Mountain School children to the Columbus School. Others opposed the transportation. After the matter was considered carefully, having been presented both pro and con at length, Walter Jones made a motion that in the interest of the children the transportation be ordered. This motion was duly seconded by J.T. Waldrop and unanimously adopted.
On motion of Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Waldrop, it was unanimously ordered, that, since the State Department of Education has ruled that no teacher in the system that holds a certificate below the Elementary Class A, no teacher be employed in the white schools of Polk County who does not hold an Elementary B. certificate or its equivalent.
Ordered the plumbing in the Stearns High School be let to the lowest responsible bidder. Contract to be let by county Superintendent and local committee.
Ordered that the Columbus and the Saluda Schools be permitted to pay above the State Salary Schedule for high school teacher and director, provided the overage is provided for out of local funds.
Ordered that the Teacherage at Greens Creek be wired for electric lighting. That a rental of $10 a month be charged for that at Mill Spring.
Ordered that the Superintendent communicate with the retiring Secretary, Treasurer Saluda School Board, asking for an itemized statement of the financial transactions of the fuel account for 1922-23.
On motion it was ordered that Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Lingerfeldt, teachers in the Mill Spring School, be paid according to special agreement for the last month of the school term.
