A wedding which is of unusual interest to many persons in Concord came as a surprise Sunday when Miss Ila Thompson of Salisbury and Baltimore was married to Percival Sloan of Baltimore in a simple ceremony at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Walter Grimes in Salisbury.
The affair was a very quiet one, only the close relatives of the bride and groom being present. The Rev. Mr. Fullenwider, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Salisbury officiated, using the beautiful ring ceremony of the Lutheran Church.
Immediately after the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Sloan left for Western North Carolina where they will spend several weeks.
Mrs. Soan is the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Thompson of Salisbury and Baltimore. She has been a frequent visitor in Concord, where her charm and personality have won for her a host of friends.
Mr. Sloan is connected with one of the oldest families in Maryland. He is a very successful business man and has a large number of friends both in the state and Maryland.
Attending the wedding from this city were: Mrs. Sloan’s sister, Mrs. A.R. Howard, Mr. and Mrs. A. Jones Yorke and Miss Alicie Yorke.
